St Mary’s College is the parent Arts &Science College under C M C Management established in the year 1946. From the beginning itself Malayalam had been taught as second language for the Pre-Degree and Degree courses . Now malayalam is an additional language for First year and second year B A/B Sc conventional courses (Mathematics, Botany, History, Economics ,English ,Chemistry) and First year B Sc Non Conventional courses (B C A Microbiology, Biotechnology,) and first year B Com B B A & Bvoc degree courses
Department has been blessed with qualified and renowned faculty. Dr M Leelavathi, famous Malayalam critic was a faculty of this Department.
