History of the Department

The department of Applied Biotechnology in St. Mary’s college was established during the academic year 2020, with the introduction ofvocationalbiotechnology courses at U.G and P.G level, under the sponsorship of UGC.The self-financing courses offered by Calicut university is comprised of wide practical knowledge along with theory of various subjects likeClinical Biochemistry,Medical Microbiology,Molecular biology & Plant Biotechnology,Cell Biology, Immunology, Bioprocess engineering & environmental biotechnology, Genetic engineering & Cell culturing techniques, forensic science, stem cell biology etc.,. Choice Based Credit Semester System (CCSS) is being followed and the current intake is 30 and 12 students in B.Voc and M.Voc. Applied Biotechnology respectively.
