Department of Biotechnology is equipped with a state of the art laboratory comprising various instruments. Two separate laboratories for UG and PG classes as well as separate provisions for microbial and plant tissue culturing is enabled. The laboratories have all amenities for conducting molecular biology & Genetic engineering experiments. Molecular biology and genetic engineering works are a routine in our lab. Specialized instruments like thermo cyclers or thermal cyclers, UV-VIS Spectrophotometer, Gel Electrophoresis Apparatus, UV trans-illuminator, Laminar Flow Cabinet, Laboratory Shaking Water Bath and Deep Freezer are part of the lab. Quantitative estimations of biological molecules and separation techniques like paper chromatography, thin layer chromatography are routinely performed. The Laboratory of Plant Tissue Culture focuses on in vitro cultures of plants with a specialization in plant propagation and callus induction. The major objectives are micro propagation technology (nodal and apical cultures, the formation of adventitious shoots, indirect organogenesis and somatic embryogenesis). Double distillation unit, pH meter, weighing balance, colorimeter, autoclaves, hot air sterilizer, laminar air flow hoods, incubator, magnetic stirrer, etc. are some fundamental instruments in the lab. The Laboratory instruments are serviced yearly and calibration procedures are conducted weekly. PTC and microbiology lab is fumigated regularly.
